About the Position

We are looking for an attorney to join our growing Legal and Compliance team. You will primarily help facilitate support for our Cryptocurrency desk and provide secondary support to a number of other desks and internal business lines across our firm.

We’re looking for a strong communicator who can take initiative in a fast-moving environment. The Crypto business by nature is fluid, and we’ll look to you to be able to provide stability and legal support for the desk.

The responsibilities of this role primarily lie in contract drafting and negotiation, understanding legal and regulatory needs for the desk and staying abreast of regulatory developments in the cryptocurrency space. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Negotiating and drafting a broad range of agreements including master repurchase and master loan agreements, margin and derivatives agreements, and other trading and financing related agreements
• Interpreting, understanding, and advising on regulations affecting the business
• Reviewing new products, platforms, and business opportunities to assess legal risk
• Collaborating with business and other control functions to ensure that the applicable legal risks are managed properly
• Liaising with external counsel where necessary

About You

• 6+ years of experience in financial services, ideally both at a leading law firm and on an in-house team, ideally with 1+ year of cryptocurrency experience
• Understands the cryptocurrency regulatory landscape both in the U.S. and abroad
• Knowledgeable regarding financial regulations such as the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as well as general corporate law, secured transactions, and bankruptcy law
• Possesses extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts
• Has pragmatic commercial acumen and impeccable business judgment
• Able to handle competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced and often ambiguous environment
• Self-starter who can work independently while establishing strong cross-functional partnerships
• Can demonstrate project planning and organizational skills, especially with hands-on deal management
• Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on getting the little things right
• Obtains the J.D., New York bar admission, or is able to qualify
• Fluency in English required

Base salary is $250,000 - $300,000. Base salary is only one part of Jane Street total compensation, which includes an annual discretionary bonus.
